Autism SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role
We are seeking a caring and motivated Autism SEN Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Waltham Forest. The role starts in September 2026 and runs full‑time until July 2027, offering the chance to make a lasting impact on pupils with autism.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with autism.
- Assist the teacher in delivering engaging, inclusive lessons.
- Apply positive behaviour strategies to promote learning and independence.
- Help create a calm, supportive, and nurturing classroom environment.
Required profile
- Experience supporting children with SEN or autism, or a graduate with a genuine interest in special educational needs.
- Good understanding of autism and the varied support needs of pupils.
- Patient, empathetic, resilient and committed to making a positive difference daily.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Required skills
What we offer
- Competitive daily rate of £92‑£120, based on experience.
- Full‑time, long‑term contract through July 2027.
- Valuable SEN experience in a supportive school environment.
