About the role

At Halfords, the Autocare Technician Apprenticeship in Chester offers a full‑time, hands‑on training programme that combines on‑the‑job experience in our service bays with classroom learning at a central training centre. Apprentices will work alongside qualified technicians to develop the skills needed to service, diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles, from traditional petrol models to hybrid and electric cars.

Key responsibilities

• Use diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults.
• Test parts and systems to confirm correct operation.
• Follow checklists to examine all critical vehicle components.
• Perform comprehensive bumper‑to‑bumper service and inspection.
• Maintain electronic systems, including on‑board entertainment.
• Complete accurate paperwork for customers and centre records.
• Keep the work environment clean and tidy.

Required profile

• Willingness to travel to a centrally located training facility for block‑release weeks.
