Automotive Technical Assessor – Edinburgh

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Automotive Technical Assessor to support Level 3 apprentices across Edinburgh and surrounding areas. The role involves visiting apprentices at their workplaces, conducting competency‑based reviews and guiding them towards successful qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out competency‑based assessments of Level 3 automotive apprentices at their place of work.
• Measure progress against industry standards and awarding body criteria.
• Provide feedback, learning support and guidance to apprentices and their employers.
• Assist apprentices in building evidence portfolios and complete required documentation for Skills Development Scotland.
• Travel to various sites across Edinburgh, Dumfries and Aberdeen to meet assessment schedules.

Required profile

• Industry‑recognised Level 3 qualification in Automotive Maintenance and Repair (Light/Heavy Vehicle) or equivalent.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and motivate young adults.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and meet deadlines.
• High level of accuracy, multi‑tasking ability and a full UK driving licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
