Backend Engineer – AdTech & Promotions

About the role

Wolt is looking for a Backend Engineer to join its AdTech & Promotions team. You will own large, cross‑functional initiatives, turning ambiguous problems into structured, ship‑ready solutions. This role is ideal for a self‑starter who enjoys building scalable backend systems and leveraging AI‑assisted development tools.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate scalable backend services for ad‑tech and promotions.
• Lead end‑to‑end initiatives across multiple teams, from problem definition to on‑time delivery.
• Collaborate with product, data, and engineering stakeholders to align goals and expectations.
• Introduce structure in high‑ambiguity environments and drive decision‑making.
• Integrate AI‑assisted workflows using tools such as Codex, Claude, and agent‑based development approaches.

Required profile

• Strong backend engineering background, preferably with Golang experience.
• Proven ability to build and operate scalable backend systems.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous settings and bringing structure where needed.
• Demonstrated leadership of large, cross‑team projects.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑assisted development tools.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra or MongoDB is a plus.
