Backend Python Developer – Banking (Hybrid, London)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Backend Python Developer to join a high‑performing technology team within a leading global financial services organisation. The role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of two days per week on‑site in London, and operates inside IR35.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build scalable Python backend applications and RESTful APIs.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and data‑intensive systems.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, data specialists and business stakeholders to deliver robust solutions.
• Ensure performance, reliability and security across critical platforms.

Required profile

• 5+ years of commercial Python development experience.
• Strong backend engineering and system design capabilities.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB or similar data stores.
• Knowledge of API development, data processing, CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Financial markets exposure (rates, bonds, swaps, futures or trading systems) is highly desirable.
• Quantitative/Quants background is a plus.
