About the role
Symphony is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design, build and maintain Java‑based services that power its communication and markets platform for global finance institutions. The role focuses on delivering highly available, maintainable features and supporting major re‑engineering initiatives across a multi‑cloud environment.
Key responsibilities
- Architect, develop and sustain Java backend services and integrate them with datastores such as MongoDB, BigTable and Redis.
- Implement automation for building, deploying and operating services in public cloud using a GitOps approach with tools like ArgoCD and Jenkins.
- Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineers to address production incidents, optimise infrastructure and ensure system reliability.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews and champion best practices for testing, monitoring and CI/CD pipelines.
- Contribute to database optimisation, infrastructure improvements and large‑scale backend refactoring projects.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in server‑side Java development.
- Proven ability to deliver mid‑size features end‑to‑end in production environments with strict reliability requirements.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ownership mindset.
