Bakery Supervisor – Artisan Bakery

About the role

We are seeking a Bakery Supervisor to lead our team at The Bertinet Bakery in Bath. You will oversee daily production of breads, pastries and cakes, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety while managing a busy, night‑shift environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the 45‑hour weekly production schedule, coordinating the preparation, mixing, shaping, proofing and baking of all baked goods.
• Lead, motivate and develop a team of bakers through briefings, hands‑on support and constructive feedback.
• Monitor workflow, resolve equipment or production issues promptly, and maintain a clean, organised bakery.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health and safety regulations and bakery hygiene standards.
• Manage stock control, ingredient ordering and equipment care, and participate in recruitment and training of new staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a bakery or food‑production environment with solid knowledge of artisan bread and pastry techniques.
• Strong leadership abilities and the capacity to motivate a team.
• Organised, efficient and able to manage production schedules and workflows.
• Passionate about quality baking and committed to maintaining high standards.
• Good understanding of health and safety and food safety regulations.
