About the role
You will be the first point of contact for patients, visitors and ambulance crews in the busy Emergency Department at Good Hope Hospital. The role involves registering new patients, booking appointments and ensuring accurate documentation in a fast‑paced environment.
Key responsibilities
- Register new patients and book them onto the PAS system.
- Book ambulances and fracture‑clinic appointments.
- Answer telephone calls, take messages and manage general queries.
- Process admissions onto the PICS system.
- Scan, print labels and wristbands, and maintain accurate patient records.
- Provide a calm, courteous presence during emergencies and escalate incidents when required.
Required profile
- GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths, or equivalent experience.
- Substantive experience in a customer‑care environment.
- Desirable previous NHS or reception experience.
- Ability to work shift patterns including evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the PAS patient administration system.
- Experience using the PICS admissions system.
- Competence in scanning, label and wristband printing.
- Good general computer and keyboard skills.
