Band 2/3 Phlebotomy Locum Edinburgh

About the role

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Phlebotomist to join a respected NHS hospital on a locum basis. The role involves providing a high‑quality blood collection service across wards and outpatient settings, supporting patient care during core working hours.

Key responsibilities

• Perform venepuncture and capillary blood sampling in line with hospital policies and procedures.
• Ensure accurate patient identification and correct labelling of all specimens.
• Deliver a professional, compassionate service to patients at all times.
• Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.
• Accurately record and process samples for laboratory analysis.
• Collaborate effectively with nursing, medical, and laboratory staff.
• Manage workload efficiently during core working hours.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Phlebotomist, preferably within the NHS.
• Strong competency in venepuncture and blood collection techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Understanding of confidentiality, data protection, and patient dignity.
• Up‑to‑date mandatory training or willingness to complete required training.
