Band 5 Occupational Therapist – Acute Care (Edinburgh)

About the role

This permanent Band 5 Occupational Therapist position is based across the acute sites of the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Western General Hospital. The role is 36 hours per week, working within an adult inpatient service (patients aged 16+). It is ideal for newly qualified OTs who can start in July and are eager to develop their acute‑care skills.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive OT assessments and interventions for adult in‑patients.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient‑focused care plans.
• Deliver therapy services on a 5‑over‑7 weekend rota as part of the team’s schedule.
• Participate in appraisal, supervision and continuing professional development activities.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Occupational Therapist (registration with HCPC).
• Enthusiastic, motivated and flexible with a willingness to work weekends.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced acute environment.
• Commitment to professional development and evidence‑based practice.
