Band 5 Staff Nurse – School Nursing

About the role

The Band 5 Staff Nurse will provide dedicated nursing care within a school setting, supporting the health and wellbeing of pupils and staff. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high‑quality health services on site.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct health assessments, screenings and routine checks for pupils.
• Administer medication and manage chronic health conditions in accordance with NHS guidelines.
• Promote health education, hygiene and wellbeing programmes within the school.
• Identify and act on safeguarding concerns, working closely with designated safeguarding leads.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure confidentiality of health information.
• Liaise with parents, teachers and external health professionals to coordinate care.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (NMC‑registered) qualified to practice in the UK.
• Band 5 level with experience in community, public health or school nursing preferred.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with children and school staff.
