Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse – Surgical Ambulatory Care

About the role

We are seeking a Band 6 Registered Nurse to join the Surgical Ambulatory Care Receiving Unit (SACRU) at Wythenshawe Hospital. The role is permanent, full‑time and includes weekend shifts, supporting same‑day emergency assessments and patient flow.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, evaluate and deliver patient care in a compassionate manner.
• Coordinate patient flow and manage unit activities alongside the Band 7 manager.
• Work closely with Advanced Clinical Practitioners, bed managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor and pre‑cept pre‑registration students and junior staff.
• Contribute to clinical governance and maintain high quality standards.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Previous experience at Band 5 or Band 6 level in a surgical or acute setting.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Motivation to support staff and patient safety.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Hive Electronic Patient Record system.
