Band 6/7 Speech & Language Therapist – Maternity Cover

About the role

We are seeking qualified Speech & Language Therapists at Band 6 or Band 7 level to join an Outstanding Specialist College on a maternity‑cover basis. The posts are full‑time, working five days a week during term time plus four additional days.

Key responsibilities

• Independently manage a clinical caseload of students with complex communication, swallowing and behavioural needs.
• Assess and support communication, eating and drinking requirements, including the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems.
• Provide training and collaborative support to teaching staff to promote inclusive communication strategies.
• Liaise with external agencies and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and achieve optimal outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to the college’s safeguarding and health policies.

Required profile

• Registered Speech & Language Therapist with experience working with individuals who have learning disabilities and complex medical needs.
• Ability to work autonomously while delivering person‑centred, functional therapy.
• Strong communication skills for training staff and collaborating with external partners.
• Flexibility to work within term‑time schedules and adapt to the college environment.
