Band 7 Non‑Medical Prescriber – HMP Stoke Heath

About the role

This permanent Band 7 position offers an experienced clinician the opportunity to lead the non‑medical prescribing service within HMP Stoke Heath. Working as a key prescriber in the Clinical Substance Use Service, you will manage complex patients, deliver medical components of care plans and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Run independent NMP clinics on a weekly basis, adapting to service demand.
• Allocate and manage complex patients, ensuring delivery of medical aspects of care plans and appropriate psychotherapeutic support.
• Provide expert advice and support to new NMPs, prescribing staff and nursing teams.
• Deliver health‑screening procedures, including blood‑borne virus testing, in line with public‑health agendas.
• Train and support staff in substance‑use and alcohol‑related disorders.
• Offer monthly clinical supervision and line‑manage nursing/recovery staff as required.
• Deputise for the Clinical Lead during their absence.

Required profile

• Registered clinician with a valid NMP qualification.
• Significant experience in substance‑use or alcohol‑related services, preferably within a correctional setting.
• Proven ability to manage complex patient caseloads and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills for liaison with internal teams and external agencies.
• Commitment to the values of inclusive, evidence‑based care.

Required skills
