Band 8a Pharmacist – Ministry of Defence

About the role

The Ministry of Defence is recruiting Band 8a Pharmacists to work at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) in Stanford Hall, Loughborough. This senior pharmacy position is based within the NHS framework and supports the health and wellbeing of service personnel and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical pharmacy services to patients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Manage medication supply, dispensing, and controlled drug governance.
• Contribute to the development of pharmacy policies and standard operating procedures.
• Deliver pharmaceutical advice and education to healthcare professionals.
• Participate in audit, research and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with a valid UK pharmacy licence.
• Experience at Band 8a level or equivalent senior pharmacy role.
• Ability to work within an inclusive, multi‑disciplinary environment.
• Willingness to undergo security and criminal record checks.

Required skills

• Clinical pharmacy expertise.
• Medication management and dispensing.
• Knowledge of NHS pharmacy standards and regulations.
