Bank Chef – Part‑time, Flexible Hours

About the role

We are looking for a qualified chef to join our team on a bank (temporary) basis, delivering high‑quality meals for residents in our East Hoathly care home. The role offers part‑time, flexible hours and the chance to work without split shifts, supporting the Head Chef in creating nutritious, seasonal menus.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in developing balanced, seasonal menus.
• Prepare fresh, high‑quality dishes for residents, tailoring meals to individual needs.
• Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence, ensuring smooth operations.
• Work within budgetary constraints and maintain cost‑effective purchasing.
• Conduct regular audits and uphold HACCP standards.
• Control stock levels, order supplies and minimise waste.
• Lead, motivate and inspire kitchen staff to maintain high service standards.

Required profile

• Personable, warm approach with genuine interest in residents’ wellbeing.
• City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ qualification or equivalent.
• Experience in leading and inspiring a kitchen team.
• Good understanding of nutrition and fresh seasonal food.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP food‑safety procedures.
