Bank Maintenance Assistant – Flexible Part‑Time Role

About the role

As a Bank Maintenance Assistant at a Barchester care home in Sherborne, you will help keep the building and grounds safe, clean and welcoming for residents and staff. The role is casual and part‑time, offering flexible hours to provide cover for annual leave, sickness or other staffing needs. You will work on a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the environment meets the high standards of a healthcare setting.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspections and general repairs of the building, plant and equipment.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and residents.
• Maintain safe and tidy communal areas, corridors and outdoor spaces.
• Perform basic plumbing, electrical and carpentry work as required.
• Assist with emergency repairs and ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Required profile

• Previous experience in property or facilities maintenance.
• Patient, caring attitude towards residents and staff.
• Flexible, reliable and able to work varied tasks on short notice.
• Willingness to work on‑site in a care‑home environment.
