Bank Mental Health Support Worker – Part‑Time (Wallingford)

About the role

Response is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Bank Mental Health Support Worker to join the team at Papist Way in Wallingford. This part‑time, on‑call position provides person‑centred support to adults with acute mental health needs, helping them live more independent and fulfilling lives.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver emotional support and practical assistance with daily living activities, including medication assistance and budgeting.
• Promote independence by teaching life‑skills such as shopping, cooking, and using public transport.
• Apply a trauma‑informed approach, adhering to the six principles of safety, trust, choice, collaboration, empowerment and cultural consideration.
• Monitor physical and mental health, liaise with primary health services and mental health teams, and support attendance at appointments.
• Maintain a safe living environment through risk assessment, housing management and health‑and‑safety practices.

Required profile

• Genuine interest in mental health and supporting adults with serious mental illness.
• Ability to work flexibly across mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
• Commitment to fostering a supportive, empowering environment for residents.
• Willingness to collaborate with the Adult Mental Health Team and other professionals.

Required skills

• Experience using a trauma‑informed care approach.
• Knowledge of medication assistance and basic health monitoring.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building trust with residents.
