Bank School Aged Immunisation Nurse

About the role

We are recruiting a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our Immunisation Team delivering the National School Aged Immunisation programme across Bath and South West England. The post is based at St Martins Hospital, Bath and involves working in schools, clinics and community venues.

Key responsibilities

• Administer vaccines to children and young people in a variety of settings.
• Lead immunisation sessions as the sessional Lead Nurse and deputise for the Senior Immunisation Nurse when required.
• Collaborate with School Nurses, educational staff, Primary Care colleagues, Public Health and other agencies to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere to infection‑control and vaccine‑handling protocols.
• Respond to any adverse reactions, including anaphylaxis, following established emergency procedures.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (Band 5) with a current NMC registration.
• Experience in paediatric or community immunisation preferred.
• Ability to work autonomously, lead a team and communicate effectively with multi‑disciplinary partners.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care.

Required skills

• Immunisation administration and vaccine handling.
• Clinical assessment of children and young people.
• Record‑keeping and use of NHS clinical IT systems.
• Emergency response for vaccine‑related adverse events.
