Banking Accountant – Financial Reporting & Expense Management

About the role

This position supports an international bank’s finance function from a central London office. You will be responsible for budgeting, reporting and controlling operating expenses, as well as maintaining fixed‑asset registers and ensuring compliance with UK tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the annual operating expense budget for the bank and departmental budgets.
• Produce monthly expense analysis and cost allocation reports.
• Review and validate expense receipts, ensuring correct allocation and documentation.
• Prepare journal entries, set up amortisation schedules and maintain fixed‑asset/software registers.
• Draft minutes for Finance Committee meetings and support audit requests.
• Compile quarterly VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements.
• Assist with system enhancements for expense management.
• Manage company card transactions and settlement processes.

Required profile

• Fully or partly qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
• Minimum 2 years of banking or financial reporting experience, preferably with operating expense journal posting.
• Fluent English; Mandarin preferred.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Finance or Accounting.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel for data analysis and budgeting.
