Base Communications Officer (BOC) Site Manager - Diego Garcia

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Base Communications Officer (BOC) Site Manager to support a government contract on the island of Diego Garcia. The role covers overall supervision and performance of Base Communications Office operations, including the Base Telecommunications Distribution System and all other systems supported by the Base Communications infrastructure. The position is pending contract award.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage Base Communications Office operations, including switch operations, switchboard operations, inside plant telephone switch maintenance, inside plant station equipment, customer premise cabling, and outside plant fiber optic and copper cables.
• Ensure compliance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum's ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
• Be available within 30 minutes to meet with Government personnel and program leadership 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Contribute to safety, quality and procedure compliance as described in the employer's safety, quality and procedure policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in an associated discipline preferred; two years of related experience may substitute for each year of the four years of college.
• At least 10 years of experience in Base Communications Office operations on a government contract or at a military installation.
• Three years of supervisory experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
• Experience operating and maintaining the Base Telecommunications Distribution System.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US passport and driver's license, a valid US passport for at least one year at hiring, a Secret US Government clearance (US citizenship required), and country-specific visas as needed.
• Must pass medical contract requirements and be able to meet all medical, security and deployment requirements for a remote overseas assignment.

Required skills

• BICSI Registered Technician Level certification or higher.
• Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

The work environment is remote and can involve long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions, and may include evening, weekend and holiday work. Physical demands include standing for 8 to 10 hours, lifting up to 50 pounds and working in offices, warehouses, ports, airfields and outdoors.
