Beet Intake Operator

About the role
British Sugar is seeking seasonal Beet Intake Operators to join the intake team at its Newark processing site. The role runs from mid‑September 2026 to mid‑February 2027 on a 12‑hour shift pattern, supporting the company’s beet‑to‑sugar campaign.
Key responsibilities
- Weigh, sample and grade incoming sugar beet loads to meet quality specifications.
- Marshal traffic and coordinate the movement of beet‑laden vehicles on site.
- Operate intake equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to production targets.
- Collaborate with the National Farmers Union and internal teams to ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and report any deviations.
Required profile
- Practical experience in a production or processing environment (preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong safety awareness and reliable attendance.
- Positive, self‑motivated attitude with flexibility to work weekends and varying shifts.
- Commitment to teamwork and respect for customers and colleagues.

- Fixed‑term contract with a base hourly rate of £13.79 plus shift allowance.
- Campaign rate of £16.36 per hour during peak periods.
