Behaviour Mentor – Alternative Provision (East Lancashire)

About the role

We are looking for a resilient and empathetic Behaviour Mentor to join an Alternative Provision setting in East Lancashire. The role starts in September 2026 and focuses on supporting KS3/KS4 students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them re‑engage with learning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group mentoring for students with challenging behaviour.
• Apply positive behaviour management and de‑escalation techniques to maintain a calm learning environment.
• Build trusting relationships to guide students through personal and academic barriers.
• Collaborate with teaching staff and pastoral leads to monitor and record student progress.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH, or within an AP/SEN setting.
• High emotional resilience, patience and excellent communication skills.
• Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one through PAYE.
