Behaviour Mentor – Primary School (Hackney)

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming primary school in Hackney for the full academic year (term time only). You will provide targeted, one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils with additional needs, helping them thrive academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver consistent one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with behavioural and emotional challenges.
• Assist children with emotional regulation, behaviour management and social‑skill development.
• Promote positive behaviour through clear routines, praise and restorative approaches.
• Implement individual support plans in collaboration with the SENCO and teaching staff.
• Monitor, record and report on pupils' progress and wellbeing.
• Work closely with teachers, parents and external professionals as required.

Required profile

• Patience, resilience and confidence when supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Ability to build trusting relationships that foster independence and confidence.
• Strong collaborative skills to work with teachers, SENCO and pastoral teams.

Required skills

• Experience in delivering behaviour support or mentoring in an educational setting.
• Knowledge of restorative approaches and emotional regulation techniques.
