Behaviour Mentor – Secondary School (Newham)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join the pastoral team of a supportive secondary school in Newham. You will work directly with pupils who need additional behavioural and emotional support, helping them engage positively with school life and develop resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions focused on emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Build trusting relationships with students, families and staff.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral leaders to create consistent support plans.
• Monitor progress, keep accurate records and adjust strategies as needed.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment across the school.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with young people in a school, youth work, mentoring or similar setting.
• Confidence in managing challenging behaviour using positive strategies.
• Calm, patient, resilient with excellent communication skills.
• Passion for helping students achieve their potential.
• Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
