Behaviour Mentor – SEMH School (Immediate Start)

About the role

The school is seeking a resilient and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will work directly with pupils who face significant barriers, providing one‑to‑one and small‑group mentoring to help them regulate emotions, re‑engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1‑2‑1 and small‑group mentoring for students with SEMH needs.
• Support pupils displaying challenging behaviour during lessons and around the school.
• Build strong, trusting relationships while maintaining clear boundaries and expectations.
• Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour‑management strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies.
• Act as a positive role model and monitor progress, wellbeing and behaviour.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
• Background as a Teaching Assistant, Mentor, Youth Worker or Residential Support Worker is highly beneficial.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
