Behaviour Mentor – SEMH Support in Secondary School

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join the pastoral and inclusion team of an ambitious secondary school in Lambeth. The role focuses on providing targeted behavioural, emotional and academic support to students who face barriers to learning, including those with SEMH, ADHD, autism and challenging behaviour.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one mentoring and small‑group interventions for students needing additional support.
• Build positive relationships that foster confidence, resilience and self‑esteem.
• Help students develop strategies to manage behaviour, emotions and classroom engagement.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEND staff, safeguarding teams and external agencies to monitor progress.
• Record and analyse behavioural, attendance and wellbeing data.
• Contribute to behaviour support plans, risk assessments and intervention programmes.
• Promote a safe, inclusive learning environment throughout the school day.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people in a school, youth work, mentoring or community setting.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship‑building abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach to challenging behaviour.
• Commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.
