Behaviour Mentor – Support Children with Special Needs

About the role
Engage Education is seeking a Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive primary school in Leeds. You will work directly with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, helping them engage in learning and improve their wellbeing.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with autism, SEMH, ADHD, severe learning difficulties and other disabilities.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to minimise classroom disruption and promote positive behaviour.
- Deliver feedback to teachers and parents on pupil progress and behavioural strategies.
- Assist in creating a calm, inclusive learning environment tailored to individual needs.
Required profile
- Outgoing, mentoring manner with a genuine passion for helping children reach their potential.
- Ability to think quickly, be proactive and adapt to the varied demands of a special school.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with pupils, staff and families.
Required skills
- Experience working with children or adults who display challenging behaviour.
- Knowledge of autism, social‑emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, ADHD and severe learning difficulties.
