Behaviour Mentor – Support Student with Complex Needs

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to work in a mainstream secondary school in Newham. The role provides one‑to‑one support for a student with complex emotional and academic needs throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 support to a student with challenging behaviour and emotional needs.
• Manage and de‑escalate challenging behaviour in a calm, consistent manner.
• Supervise the student across all school activities, ensuring safety and positive engagement.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for the whole class.

Required profile

• Previous experience in SEN or behaviour support.
• Proven ability to work with challenging behaviour.
• Team Teach training (desirable) and safeguarding training (desirable, can be provided).
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Two professional references.

• Full‑time contract for the academic year (8:30 am – 3:30 pm).
• Day rate between £100 and £160.
