About the role
The school in Barking & Dagenham seeks a Behaviour Mentor to join the team from September 2026. You will work one‑to‑one with pupils aged 11‑16 who display challenging behaviour, helping them develop better communication and self‑regulation skills.
Key responsibilities
- De‑escalate disruptive outbursts and maintain a calm learning environment.
- Provide personalised guidance to improve students' communication abilities.
- Build trusting, supportive relationships with each assigned pupil.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to monitor progress and adjust support plans.
Required profile
- Proven experience working one‑to‑one with young people who exhibit challenging behaviour.
- Ability to remain calm and effective during high‑stress situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster trust and rapport with students.
- Commitment to supporting secondary‑school learners aged 11‑16.
