Behaviour Mentor – Support Students with SEMH Needs

About the role

The school is looking for a resilient Behaviour Mentor to work with pupils who have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour. You will help students re‑engage with learning by providing consistent support throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and small‑group interventions to manage behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Build trusting relationships, set clear boundaries and act as a positive role model.
• Encourage student engagement, positive choices and attendance.
• Collaborate with teachers and senior leadership to develop personalised support plans.
• Monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed.

Required profile

• Calm, patient and able to remain resilient under pressure.
• Confident managing challenging behaviour and able to set clear expectations.
• Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people.
• Strong relationship‑building skills and professional demeanor.
• Previous experience in a similar role (e.g., Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker) is highly beneficial.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required; focus is on behavioural support and relationship building.
