Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are seeking two Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistants to support pupils with behavioural, social and emotional needs in an SEN school. You will work closely with young people on a one‑to‑one and small‑group basis, helping them develop engagement, regulation and social skills while maintaining a positive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consistent in‑class behaviour support and de‑escalation.
• Work with pupils individually or in small groups to develop social and emotional regulation.
• Assist teachers in delivering lessons and managing classroom behaviour.
• Build trusting relationships with pupils who have experienced trauma or disruption.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people who have challenging behaviour, SEMH or additional needs.
• Calm, resilient and confident approach.
• Ability to de‑escalate situations and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Backgrounds in youth work, care, mentoring or alternative provision are welcome.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required.
