Behaviour Support Assistant

About the role

The Behaviour Support Assistant will work within a supportive primary school in Bolton, providing one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to pupils who need extra guidance to manage their behaviour and engage in learning. You will collaborate closely with teachers, the SENDCO and pastoral staff to create a positive, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils individually and in small groups.
• Implement behaviour support plans and use positive reinforcement strategies.
• Encourage emotional regulation, resilience and social skills.
• Help pupils access classroom learning successfully.
• Promote positive behaviour and social interaction.
• Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams.
• Record progress and communicate updates to the wider team.
• Maintain high safeguarding standards at all times.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs.
• Calm, patient and professional in challenging situations.
• Ability to build positive, trusting relationships.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Flexible, reliable and committed to improving outcomes for children.
• Enhanced DBS holder or willing to obtain one.
