Behaviour Support Assistant – Reading

About the role

Our school in Reading is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to help create a nurturing and inclusive environment where students can thrive academically and emotionally. You will work directly with pupils to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social skills.

Key responsibilities

• Support students in developing social skills, conflict‑resolution strategies and healthy coping mechanisms.
• Facilitate group activities that encourage positive peer interaction.
• Model appropriate social behaviours and emotional regulation techniques.
• Maintain a safe and positive learning environment for all students.

Required profile

• Ability to collaborate within a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Strong communication skills.
• Patience, empathy and genuine passion for supporting children.
• Experience with children or young people with educational, social, emotional or mental health needs (beneficial but not essential).
• Desire to make a real impact.
