About the role
The school is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to work within its specialist SEMH provision. You will help pupils who experience deregulation, providing calm, consistent emotional and behavioural support on a 1:1 and small‑group basis.
Key responsibilities
- Support students with SEMH needs individually and in small groups.
- Assist pupils during periods of deregulation, using de‑escalation techniques.
- Collaborate with teachers and wider school staff to ensure consistent support.
- Adapt quickly to changing student needs and dynamic classroom situations.
- Promote emotional regulation, engagement and positive outcomes.
Required profile
- Passionate about helping vulnerable young people reach their potential.
- Resilient, patient and confident when managing challenging behaviours.
- Flexible, quick‑thinking and able to thrive in a dynamic school environment.
- Strong team player with a proactive approach.
Required skills
- Experience in residential care, children’s homes, foster care, youth work, mentoring, sports or alternative provision settings (preferred).

- £450‑£550 per week (depending on experience).
- Full‑time, term‑time only role starting in September.
