Behaviour Support Officer

About the role

The Behaviour Support Officer will join a high‑achieving secondary academy in Greenwich, part of the Harris Federation. Working closely with Heads of Year and the pastoral team, you will provide targeted support to help students overcome emotional and behavioural barriers to learning.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1‑on‑1 and small‑group mentoring sessions focused on emotional regulation, conflict resolution and resilience.
• Manage and de‑escalate challenging situations across the school using restorative practices.
• Design, implement and monitor personalised behaviour improvement plans for high‑need students.
• Build collaborative relationships with families to ensure consistent support between home and school.

Required profile

• Proven experience in pastoral, behaviour support or youth‑work within a secondary school.
• Strong conflict‑resolution and de‑escalation skills, with knowledge of restorative justice.
• Calm, positive demeanour and ability to remain professional under pressure.
• Ability to commute to Greenwich, South East London.
