Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

About the role

Reed Education is partnering with a primary school in Plymouth to hire a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant. The role starts as soon as possible and focuses on providing targeted, one‑to‑one and small‑group support to two pupils with behavioural and additional needs within a mainstream classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to two designated pupils.
• Engage a pupil who may disengage or refuse tasks, using calm or enthusiastic communication as needed.
• Utilise visual timetables and other tools to support smooth transitions between activities.
• Help pupils regulate behaviour and stay engaged in learning.
• Adapt quickly to completed tasks and support the wider class when required.
• Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment for all students.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting children with behavioural or additional needs.
• Strong behaviour management abilities.
• Calm, patient, resilient and able to thrive in an unpredictable classroom.
• Comfortable working both one‑to‑one and across the whole class.
