Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Full‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a resilient and proactive Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Greenwich. The successful candidate will work with pupils aged 11‑16 who need additional behavioural and emotional support, collaborating closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the SEND department.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils during lessons and provide one‑to‑one or small‑group assistance.
• Implement and monitor behaviour management plans and de‑escalation techniques.
• Promote emotional regulation and positive engagement with learning.
• Work with the SEND team to tailor interventions for SEMH needs.
• Help maintain a safe, structured and inclusive classroom environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting pupils with behavioural or SEMH needs, preferably in a school, PRU or alternative provision.
• Ability to build positive relationships with young people and encourage constructive behaviour.
• Confidence in using de‑escalation strategies and behaviour management tools.
• Full‑time availability with an immediate start.
