Behaviour Support Worker – Headington

About the role

Join a vibrant specialist school in Headington and help young people aged 5‑16 with social, emotional and mental health needs thrive. As a Behaviour Support Worker you will create a calm, supportive atmosphere that encourages confidence and learning.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils in the classroom to stay focused and engaged.
• Manage behaviour using positive, proactive strategies.
• Deliver tailored interventions and individual support plans.
• Build trusting relationships with students to promote emotional regulation, communication and social development.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and support staff to ensure consistent, whole‑school support.

Required profile

• Patient, resilient and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
• Calm, positive and supportive approach.
• Confidence in building rapport and handling challenging behaviour.
• Experience working with children or young people (preferred but not essential).
• Interest in education, psychology, mental health or youth work is an advantage.
