Behaviour Support Worker – Primary School

About the role

We are looking for caring and enthusiastic Behaviour Support Workers to join primary schools across Leeds. You will work directly with pupils who have behavioural, emotional, social or additional learning needs, helping them engage positively with school life.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with behavioural and emotional needs.
• Assist children in managing emotions and developing positive behaviour strategies.
• Build trusting relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Support teachers in creating an inclusive classroom environment.
• Encourage pupil confidence, engagement and social development.
• Implement behaviour support plans and follow safeguarding procedures.
• Support children during lessons, break times and school activities.
• Record observations and give feedback to teaching staff and SENCOs.

Required profile

• Experience working with children in schools, childcare, youth work or similar settings.
• Understanding of behaviour management strategies in primary education.
• Calm, empathetic and resilient approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check.
