Behaviour Support Worker – SEN & Mental Health

About the role
We are seeking a Behaviour Support Worker to join an ‘Outstanding’ OFSTED‑rated mainstream school in Rochford. The role focuses on delivering personalised support to pupils with special educational needs (SEN) and complex mental health requirements, using restorative practices and a collaborative approach.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with SEN and mental health challenges.
- Implement restorative practice techniques to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and families to develop and review individual support plans.
- Maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive school environment through round‑the‑clock support when required.
Required profile
- Enthusiastic, patient and flexible team player.
- Minimum Level 3 qualification or higher; psychology or criminology graduates are highly regarded.
- Experience or strong interest in SEN and mental health support.
- Excellent communication skills and a good educational background.
Required skills
- Knowledge of restorative practice approaches.
- Understanding of SEN legislation and mental health frameworks.
What we offer
- Daily rate of £95‑£105 (paid weekly).
- Long‑term fixed‑term contract until July 2027 with the possibility of a permanent role from August 2026.
- Start date in September.
- Round‑the‑clock support, paid teacher training and additional professional development.
