About the role
This position supports a welcoming SEN secondary school in Enfield, helping students with special educational needs develop socially, emotionally, and academically. The role focuses on understanding behaviour as communication and providing the right support to enable learning.
Key responsibilities
- Support students individually or in small groups with learning and emotional regulation.
- Provide calm, consistent assistance during challenging moments and help re‑engage students with lessons.
- Build trusting relationships that encourage confidence and independence.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support.
- Promote positive behaviour through patience, structure, and clear expectations.
- Recognise and celebrate every achievement, no matter how small.
Required profile
- Remains calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations.
- Has experience working with young people in SEN, SEMH, behaviour support, youth work, or care settings (desirable but not essential).
- Can build strong relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
- Genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
- Motivated to make a meaningful difference in students' lives.
