Behavioural Support Assistant – 1‑1 SEMH Support

About the role

This full‑time position supports children and young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs in a caring, inclusive community. You will work one‑to‑one with pupils, helping them rebuild confidence, develop resilience and prepare for life beyond school.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one emotional and behavioural support to pupils facing anxiety, trauma or unmet needs.
• Manage behaviour calmly and consistently, creating a safe and valued environment.
• Build trusting relationships that enable pupils to feel understood and supported.
• Encourage the development of life skills, healthy relationships and independence.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children or young people with emotional and social needs.
• Confidence in managing behaviour with calmness and consistency.
• Ability to build trusting relationships and set clear boundaries.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car.

Required skills

• Full UK driving licence.
