Bench Engineer / Field Service Engineer

About the role

This is a hybrid, full‑time position based at Surrey Wheelchair Services (GU21 5SA). You will work both in the workshop and on‑site, repairing, servicing and maintaining wheelchairs for health‑care customers.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out repairs, servicing and maintenance of wheelchairs as directed by the Operations Manager.
• Complete all associated paperwork accurately on a daily basis.
• Label and collate warranty and scrap returns each day.
• Follow infection‑control and housekeeping procedures at all times.
• Assist in clinical appointments with health‑care professionals for repair and service needs.
• Perform stock‑take duties and support annual/interim inventories.
• Participate in the on‑call engineer rota with additional standby pay.

Required profile

• Full‑time permanent availability (40 hours per week).
• Hybrid work mode – a mix of workshop and field visits.
• Ability to communicate clearly with customers and colleagues.
• Willingness to follow company policies, procedures and health‑safety standards.

Required skills

• Wheelchair repair and refurbishment.
• Mechanical troubleshooting.
• Use of power tools and engineering bench equipment.
