BI & Data Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Business Intelligence & Data Engineer to join our medium‑sized team in the Southampton/Portsmouth area. This hybrid position (minimum three days in the office) offers the chance to design, develop and optimise data solutions that drive strategic decision‑making across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable SQL databases and data pipelines.
• Build and optimise Power BI dashboards and reports for multiple teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate data requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity through testing and validation.
• Automate data workflows to improve efficiency.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise data system performance.
• Participate in data governance and security initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in SQL development, database design and optimisation.
• Strong knowledge of Power BI with a track record of creating impactful visualisations.
• Experience with data modelling, ETL processes and data‑warehousing concepts.
• Excellent analytical abilities and clear communication skills.
• Self‑motivated, proactive and detail‑oriented.
