Bid Manager

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established contractor in Exeter to strengthen their pre‑construction team. As a Bid Manager you will lead the tender process for commercial interior fit‑out and refurbishment projects, providing commercial insight and cost planning from the earliest design stages.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost plans, estimates and tender submissions.
• Review drawings, specifications and project documentation to develop accurate pricing strategies.
• Manage the tender process from enquiry through submission and contract award.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value‑engineering options.
• Build relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
• Collaborate with design, commercial and operational teams to keep budgets aligned.
• Support client meetings, presentations and tender interviews.
• Monitor market trends, labour rates and material costs to inform pricing.
• Assist with handover of awarded projects to delivery teams.
• Mentor junior team members as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in estimating, pre‑construction, bid management or commercial functions.
• Background in interior fit‑out, refurbishment or construction sectors.
• Knowledge of construction contracts, including JCT forms.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using estimating and commercial software packages.
• Understanding of JCT contract terms.
