About the role
We are seeking an HCPC‑registered Biomedical Scientist to join our Biochemistry team at the Derby site of Derbyshire Pathology. Working in a fully accredited UKAS ISO 15189 laboratory, you will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality clinical results within a busy, 24/7 service.
Key responsibilities
- Process routine and urgent samples using both automated (Roche Cobas 8100, ISE, c702, e801) and manual platforms.
- Authorise clinical results and ensure KPI targets are met.
- Supervise and mentor support staff in daily activities.
- Participate in service development, quality‑management projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to audit activities, preferably using Q‑Pulse.
Required profile
- Current HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Experience working in modern, fully automated blood‑science laboratories.
- Ability to work autonomously across varying shift patterns, including 24/7 rota.
- Willingness to work at the Derby site and occasionally at Queens Hospital Burton.
- Commitment to professional development and adherence to accreditation standards.
Required skills
- Roche Cobas 8100 automated workflow system.
- ISE, c702 and e801 analytical units.
- Sebia Capillarys and Hydrasys platforms.
- Phadia Immunocap immunology system.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with Q‑Pulse (advantageous).
