BMS Design Engineer - Data Centre Projects

About the role

Clear is looking for an experienced BEMS Design Engineer to work on data centre projects in Dagenham. The engineer produces complete BMS, EPMS and EMS design packages and takes ownership of the engineering design from project handover through to commissioning and final handover, working with project managers, commissioning engineers, clients, consultants and specialist subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Produce complete BMS, EPMS and EMS design packages, points lists, I/O schedules, controller schedules and functional design specifications
• Design system architecture, network topology and resilient control systems, selecting controllers, EPMS devices, EMS platforms and field equipment
• Review control panel layouts and wiring drawings, and ensure documentation meets company standards, client specifications and industry best practice
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and support junior designers and apprentices
• Manage engineering deliverables, coordinate with project managers and commissioning engineers, attend design reviews and client technical meetings
• Support procurement, prepare and respond to technical submittals and RFIs, and take part in BIM and digital engineering coordination
• Support FAT, SFAT, IST and commissioning, and produce as-built documentation
• Design networks using BACnet, Modbus TCP/IP and Ethernet, integrate with third-party systems and consider redundancy philosophies and cybersecurity

Required profile

• HNC/HND, degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
• At least three years' experience designing BMS systems
• Experience delivering projects in data centre or other mission-critical environments
• Good understanding of critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure

Required skills

• Experience with Schneider EcoStruxure, Tridium Niagara or similar BMS platforms
• Experience designing or integrating EPMS and EMS solutions
• Strong understanding of BACnet and Modbus communications
• Experience producing functional design specifications, points lists and network architecture drawings
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Desirable: Revit, Navisworks, BIM coordination, commissioning experience, IEC 62443 knowledge, Uptime Institute Tier standards, ECS or CSCS card
