Bookkeeper – Client Facing Role with Xero Expertise

About the role

We are supporting a leading independent accountancy firm in Surrey and are looking for a proactive Bookkeeper to join the client‑facing team. The role involves handling general bookkeeping, preparing VAT returns and assisting with system implementations and migrations, primarily using Xero. Key responsibilities

• Perform and review a variety of bookkeeping tasks and prepare VAT returns for a diverse client base.
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients, answering queries and resolving issues promptly.
• Provide training and support to clients on modern accounting software, especially Xero.
• Lead or assist in the migration of client data onto Xero and other platforms.
• Support colleagues with queries related to client bookkeeping and accounting software.

Required profile

• AAT qualification preferred, though strong practical experience will be considered.
• Extensive experience using Xero is essential.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks, Sage, Dext or similar systems is advantageous.
• Bookkeeping experience gained within an accountancy practice or client‑service environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage your own client portfolio.
