Bookkeeper – Cloud Accounting & VAT Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a diligent, detail‑oriented Bookkeeper to join our forward‑thinking Chartered Accountants firm in Chichester. You will manage day‑to‑day bookkeeping, VAT, CIS returns and support the preparation of management accounts for a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Process bookkeeping data using cloud‑based software such as Dext, Xero, Sage and QuickBooks Match.
• Match, batch and code client documentation accurately.
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve bookkeeping queries.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and CIS returns on time.
• Support the preparation of management accounts, including basic commentary.
• Post adjustments and correct errors with guidance from senior staff.
• Undertake additional duties as required by the role.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of UK bookkeeping experience in practice.
• Professional qualification such as AAT Level 3/4 or progressing towards it.
• Access to a vehicle for occasional visits to other offices or client sites.
